Vivien Lee is a Korean American artist, writer, and poet currently based in New York. She originally graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2014 with a degree in urban planning and design, and often thinks about the impact of outer environments on the inner. Her poetry has been mentioned by Nowness and Flaunt Magazine and previously, she's contributed to The CutHazlitt, Far Near, Burdock Magazine, Sight Unseen, Document Journal, SSENSE, PIN-UP, Observer, Nylon, and Thrillist. Inspired by her grandmother's collection of vintage sculptures, her work with resin explores self preservation during isolation and the 2020 pandemic, using meaningful memories from childhood and memorabilia she collected while living and working in Seoul, Korea prior to global lockdown.
